Accessibility Statement
This is an accessibility statement from EXP.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The EXP website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the EXP website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the EXP website:
Autoplaying moving content
We have a number of autoplaying moving content elements that cannot be paused,
- Our Work page listing items can have an auotplaying, but muted video as their preview
- Individual case study (work) pages can feature autoplaying, but muted videos in their assets
- There is text in the footer that scrolls horizontally automatically
- If the cookie consent prompt is showing, this has text in that scrolls horizontally automatically
- The showreel on the homepage has an autoplaying, but muted preview
As the videos are muted, there is currently no controls to pause them, and no pause control for the scrolling text instances. We are exploring ways to add pause buttons to the video previews, and how we might position these and in relation to the footer scrolling text.
If you have reduced motion operating system settings set to prefer reduced motion, the footer text will not scroll.
If you have issues accessing our work page, with the videos autoplaying, please get in touch and we can provide direct links to the work pages..
Cannot reveal the footer when using keyboard to navigate
On certain pages, when keyboard focus is in the footer, the footer is not visible, so focus states can’t be seen because The footer uses a sticky pattern and is revealed on scroll. Currently tabbing into it doesn’t trigger this reveal.
We are investigating a way to ensure that focusing into the footer triggers the same reveal. The change in url can been seen in the browser UI when tabbing between the links. But please get in touch if you would like direct links to the footer items and are struggling to access them.
Low colour contrast on ‘glass’ elements
We are using a background blur effect on some content that overlays images. For example on the testimonials component, the testimonial content with white text sits over the image with a ‘glass’ effect background. Depending on the range of colours used in the image that sits behind it, this can fail contrast checks.
We’re looking at a better way to present the content so this might not arise.
Our Work filters focus indicator
On the Our Work page we have controls that allow filtering by sector and industry. These are groups of checkbox inputs, and whilst the filters can be opened and used via keyboard, there is currently no focus state applied to the filter. We are looking at fixing this as a priority.
If you cannot use the filters and would like to view our work by sector or industry, please contact us and we can provide a link to a pre-filtered page.
Non-HTML documents
In some cases we may link off to PDF documents that have accessibility issues, for example our terms of service. Some of these documents will need updating soon, and when doing this we will make them more accessible, or try and move them into the web page content. If you come across any non-HTML documents that are not accessible, please contact us and we will try and provide the information in a more accessible format.
